Hot Tub vs. Jetted Tub- Which Do You Prefer?

Soak away.....
Soak away…..

If you have never soaked in a hot tub or taken a luxurious bubble bath in a jetted tub (such as a Jacuzzi tub), renting a cabin is your golden opportunity. At Blue Ridge Cabin Rentals in Helen, Georgia, most of our cabins have a hot tub or jetted tub, and many have both, so you don’t have to choose!

Sometimes potential guests who may not be familiar with either type of tub ask us which is best. The short answer is: both types of tubs are popular with our guests, and for good reason. After a long day in Helen, shopping or wine tasting, or spending time outdoors enjoying our beautiful mountain scenery, a soak in either type of tub is relaxing and refreshing.

So, what is the difference between a hot tub and a jetted tub?

A hot tub is usually set up on a porch or deck, and seats 4-6 people comfortably. It is continuously filled with water which is heated by an electrical system, and has various jets that shoot water and provide a massage effect. The water is purified by a filter and chemically treated prior to your stay. The temperature of the water is preset by the management company to ensure comfort and safety. Rules regarding hot tub use and safety are posted in our cabins, and some also in our Terms and Conditions on our website. Guests are strongly encouraged to become familiar with all rules for hot tub use prior to using the hot tub. Note: NEVER put bubble bath or soap in a hot tub, and NEVER have glass near or in the hot tub.

A jetted tub, often called a “Jacuzzi” (which is a specific brand name), is filled with water each use, and drained immediately, just like a regular bathtub. But as the name suggests, there are jets that also provide a massaging effect. Jetted tubs are usually in the bedroom or bathroom, and are meant for no more than two people. You can put bubble bath in a jetted tub, though it is recommended you only use a small amount, as the jets cause foam….lots of foam! So add only a bit at a time, to avoid a messy situation. Also, do not use glass in or near the jetted tub.

Whatever your preference, we are happy to accommodate you in the cabin of your choice. Some of our hot tubs are positioned to take advantage of awesome mountain views, or placed strategically near an outdoor fireplace. Some even have waterfall features (in season). Hot tubs can generally be used year round, so are maintained and ready for use, even in winter.

Some of our indoor jetted tubs also have waterfall features. Indoor tubs are perfect for that romantic getaway- some are heart-shaped, but not all. If you have a style preference let us know. But here’s a tip: the heart-shaped tub may seem cheesy to some folks, but the shape actually makes it very comfortable. Worth a try if haven’t yet!

So which do you prefer, hot tub or jetted tub?

  1. I think it really depends on what kind of view there is outside! If I’ve got an amazing city skyline or a nice beach or mountain sunset, then I’ll always choose a hot tub. But if I’m not planning to go for a swim, but I’d rather have a nice bubble bath in a jetted tub after a rock concert, I’d go for the jetted tub. I went to a concert in Las Vegas and did so much walking, and so much standing and jumping, that I soaked in the tub for an hour after we got back to our hotel room.

    1. Thanks for commenting! Both types can be relaxing and have their fans. You are right, putting soap or bubble bath in a hot tub, as opposed to a jetted tub, is a bad idea. The way they are wired, and the pump system in a hot tub makes it extremely difficult to get the soap out. A Jacuzzi or jetted tub is designed like a bath tub and can handle the soap. And even in a jetted tub, you must use bubble bath sparingly, or you will end up with a ton of bubbles!
